Files of that type use a built-in standardized schema supported in all Mac/PC versions from [IIRC] Office 2003 forward. However, if it's saved as an XML Data file involving the use of the XML tools found on the Developer tab of the Windows versions & the XML Source Task Pane, Mac Excel cannot work with it. Mac Office never has been equipped with true XML capability, nor have those tools been added in O2016.
There is one particular XML file format that is supported in Excel. If you make your XML file conform to the Microsoft Office 2004 XML file format, it will work.
Otherwise, no. The standard spreadsheet format used today is called Office Open XML and would have a (.xslx) file extension. This is a zipped file format. There is a SDK for this file format for Visual Studio. Since the file format is an open standard, you may be able to find other documentation for constructing these files.

I have a macro code below for Excel 2007. I need to import.xml files into Excel. There are 1,000.xml files. The schema is only 80 percent the same. I need to import them to Excel and export them as.csv with semicolon. I have inserted the code into Excel macro. But when I execute it the files are not being imported.
Can any one help me check the code, will the code work for my scenario? I have made some changes in your code, now it works and saves files such as File1.xls, File2.xls etc. Changes have been marked on your code. Still one minor problem remains that last file though saved remains open in the workspace.
This I could not examine further due to my pre-occupation with some other things. I hope you will be able to resolve this issue. Modified code as follows.
